I received a letter in the post to tell me that it's time to get a cervical screening test again. The letter was dated 20th April, but they had my postcode wrong so it obviously confused some postpeople for a bit.
I called my Doctors straight away, ignoring the 12 page leaflet about the test as I have had one before and I didn't need convincing. Sure it's awkward, but it's not as painful as I thought it would be and it's for my benefit.
I got an appointment for tomorrow. It takes about 2 weeks to get a general doctor's appointment so I wasn't expecting to have to go so soon. I am hoping that I will have a woman, as that makes me feel more comfortable but I always forget to ask.
My main concern though is my hairy legs. I haven't done anything to them since February so they are very hairy. Considering my wardrobe options for the appointment, I always wear a skirt so I feel slightly less awkward though thinking about it I'm not really sure why. Maybe because I can detach myself from the situation slightly. Some really long socks would be great as then I wouldn't have to do anything to my legs, but I don't have any and maybe she would think that I am more weird for wearing really long socks under leggings (as I wouldn't wear just a skirt and long socks to the appointment). I've decided that shaving my lower legs is the best option for it (I never bother with the top half of them so the hairs are quite light). I feel like I am letting myself down slightly by doing it, but really I am a fan of smooth legs and I have been meaning to deal with ‘the situation’ for a while but I haven’t been bothered (especially as the plan for wild swimming last weekend went out of the window after remembering that it is May in the UK). If I used a razor it would take forever, so luckily there is a shaver setting to my epilator…
