My picture 21st April 2017 (Today's Look) has been selected for a group show at Photo Oxford. The theme for the festival (and the show) is Conceal/Reveal which is a theme that appears in a lot of my work (though I refer to it usually as hiding and revealing).
The jury was: Emma Bowkett, Director of Photography at the Financial Time and FT Weekend Magazine, Alan Capal – Head of Content at Alamy, Tim Clark - Editor in Chief at 1000 Words and Guest Curator of Photo Oxford 2017, Greg Hobson - Former Curator of Photographs at the National Media Museum and Guest Curator of Photo Oxford 2017, Alona Pardo - Curator at Barbican Art Gallery, London and Martin Parr - Photographer and President of Magnum.
It also got a review, which was quite nice!
"Until we read the description, the inclusion of a hot water bottle in the portrait seems ridiculous and slightly comedic. However, as it transpires that we are looking at a self-portrait, the photograph becomes a striking image of anxiety and vulnerability in relation to self image. In shifting the reading of an apparently prosaic image into something deeply personal and multi-layered, the photographer shows an extremely well-developed sense of the possibilities of photography.”
